The life cycle of a butterfly is fascinating and involves several stages. Here’s a breakdown of each phase:

1. Egg: The butterfly's life begins as an egg. Female butterflies lay their eggs on plants, often on the leaves, which serve as food for the caterpillars when they hatch.

2. Larva (Caterpillar): After a few days or weeks, depending on the species, the egg hatches into a caterpillar. The caterpillar's main job is to eat and grow, usually feeding on the leaves of the plant it was born on. It sheds its skin several times as it grows larger. 6. Pupa (Chrysalis): Once the caterpillar has grown enough, it forms a protective casing around itself called a chrysalis or cocoon. Inside this casing, the caterpillar undergoes a transformation called metamorphosis. During this time, the caterpillar’s body breaks down and reorganizes into the adult butterfly's body. This stage can last from a few weeks to several months, depending on the species and environmental factors.

7. Adult Butterfly: The final stage is the emergence of the adult butterfly. Once it has finished metamorphosis, it emerges from the chrysalis, usually with soft, wet wings. It waits for its wings to dry and harden before flying away. Adult butterflies focus on reproduction, finding a mate, and laying eggs to start the cycle anew.
